Global investment manager M&G Investments has appointed Emmanuel Deblanc as Chief Investment Officer of the company’s £74bn private markets business, which invests across private credit, structured credit, impact and private equity, real estate and infrastructure.
Reporting to Joseph Pinto, CEO of M&G Investments, Deblanc will join on 14 March 2024 and will be based in London.
Deblanc joins from Allianz Global Investors, where he led and developed the firm’s private markets capability and contributed to the growth of its private debt franchise. Prior to Allianz, he was Co-Head of BNP Paribas’s debt advisory and financing team, where he led high-profile European infrastructure and energy deals.
In a press statement, M&G Investment said private markets investment is central to its growth ambitions in asset management, “building on the firm’s rich heritage and market-leading capabilities to develop innovative propositions for UK and international clients”. Private markets accounted for half of the asset management industry’s global revenue in 2022, according to BCG’s Global Asset Management Benchmarking survey 2023, and M&G says it has made becoming the “European champion for private assets” a priority.
M&G’s private markets business dates back to 1848, having first invested in UK real estate.
